Mission Statement

 

 

The Office of Social Equity (OSE) provides leadership, coordination and information to assist departments and constituencies within West Chester University to achieve its commitments to the principles of equity, diversity and affirmative action. Through collaborative efforts, the office helps to foster an inclusive and civil community. In furtherance of its mission, the Office of Social Equity monitors a number of policies to promote diversity and inclusion and to eliminate discriminatory behaviors at West Chester University. Bending the Digital Arc Toward Justice: Women of Color Feminists Changing Progressive Conversations Online with Andrea Plaid

On March 4, 2PM in Sykes Theatre, Andrea Plaid, widely-published associate editor of the award-winning blog Racialicious, is stopping by WCU to talk feminism, race, and privilege in today’s media culture. This timely and engaging lecture will examine how feminists of color have brought the idea of intersectionality to the world of social media. Breaking the Silence Against Modern Day Lynching

On Tuesday, March 11th at 12:30PM in Sykes Ballroom C, WCU Professor Dean Johnson will discuss his community organizing with The SpiritHouse Project. One of the primary campaigns of the SpiritHouse is investigating and telling the stories of the mysterious deaths of young black and latino men. 21st Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration

On Thursday, January 23rd attend one of the events to celebrate and commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The 21st Annual brunch will take place from 10AM-12Noon in the Sykes Ballrooms, followed by a performance by the WCU Gospel Choir and other events throughout the date.
