Welcome to West Chester University and the Office of New Student Programs! We want you to be successful as you make the transition to West Chester University. It is mandatory for all Transfer Students who have earned fewer than 60 credits to attend a one-day transfer orientation session offered in August.
Why Orientation: Transfer students are an important part of our undergraduate community, and we care about your transition to our campus. If you are a transfer student with fewer than 60 credits you must attend a one-day orientation designed to help you transition to the culture and community of West Chester University. If you have earned 60 credits or more, you are not required to attend Orientation but you are welcome to participate.
What to Expect at Transfer Orientation
At Orientation check-in you will be provided with a name tag and the day's schedule. You will be placed into a peer group for the day (typically related to your major and living assignment), you will tour the campus, receive information about living on campus or commuting, and will learn about the resources available to help you be successful at WCU. Most importantly, you will network with other transfer students and learn how to get involved at WCU.
Academic scheduling is not part of the orientation day. You must call your academic department to arrange a meeting with an advisor to discuss your academic schedule and schedule classes. This meeting should be arranged as soon as possible as classes do fill up quickly. You will not meet with an academic advisor during your orientation day nor have time to do so. Please do not schedule an academic advising meeting for your orientation day unless you are able to schedule the appointment after 2:30 p.m.
