Curriculum Vitae

At West Chester University since 1971, Larry Nelson has composed works for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, orchestra, and the electronic medium. His music is published by Theodore Presser and by Carl Fischer and recordings of his works are on Albany, CRI, Black Canyon and EAM labels.
Nelson’s compositional activity has continued to be varied. His music has been performed in Russia, New Zealand, as well as colleges and universities throughout the United States. His composition, Seven Clay Songs, for soprano and chamber orchestra and Recalcitrant Siren, for orchestra, were both premiered in 2007. Nelson's CD, "The Starry Messenger" was released in 2007. He recently completed a new composition for violin and computer processing. He is current working on a solo piano composition and an interactive piece for electric guitar and laptop quartet.

Nelson has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, ASCAP, and Meet the Composer, and fellowships from the Norlin Foundation and the MacDowell Colony
