Education
BA in English/Education, Muhlenberg College
MA in Theater, Villanova University
Deborah deCastro Braak has been an actor, director, and dramaturg in a variety of productions, both locally and elsewhere, for the past thirty years, although her current focus is on educational theater. She holds a BA in English/Education from Muhlenberg College and an MA in Theater from Villanova University where she was the winner of the Region 2-Kennedy Center/American College Theater Festival National Critics' Institute. Since 2000, she has been the Education Director at both The Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival and The Wilma Theater, and served as Artistic Fellow at the Wilma.
At West Chester, she teaches Acting I and Creative Dramatics and runs the Will’s World summer theatre camp. Locally, she has acted and directed at Villanova Theatre, Theatre Horizon, The Barn Playhouse, Forge Theatre, as well as in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and independent web-based films, and is a consultant to the newly-formed Vanity House Theatre in Manayunk.
