WCU Named Great College to Work For

West Chester University was recently named a "Great College to Work For" by the Chronicle of Higher Education.   All accredited U.S. universities were invited to participate in this survey and West Chester University was one of only 111 universities recognized.

Grant Awarded

West Chester University was recently awarded a Fire Prevention and Safety Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the amount of $213,720.00. Kudos to Environmental Health & Safety's Greg Witmer for submitting the grant. This grant will allow a yearly program for magnetic devices to be put on microwaves to help ensure they shut off in the event of a fire and covers all training materials, devices and other associated costs. Service Milestone

Grace Kelly in the Office of the President and Cheryl Faust in Facility Rental Activity each celebrated 25 years of service to WCU on July 14th. Congratulations Grace and Cheryl and thank you for your continued dedication to WCU!  

Just Married

Andrea (Daniels) Grinwis in the Office of Academic Affairs married Wayne Grinwis, an adjunct professor in the Dept. of Health, in Boot Road Park in West Chester on June 25th. The happy couple enjoyed a very personal and DIY wedding with close friends and family involved – Andrea made the flowers, Wayne made the dance floor, a good friend acted as officiant, and other friends made the dress and wedding cakes (they had two!).  It was a beautiful day they will not soon forget!  Congratulations Andrea and Wayne!

Jeff Sugzdinis in Facilities and Ann Stiehler of Maryland, were married on July 1st, 2011 in Everhart Park, West Chester. The couple resides in Downingtown, PA. Congratulations Jeff and Ann!

Caregivers Support Group Meeting
TUESDAY, September 13, 2011 from 12:00 to 1:00 in the Philips 3rd floor Board Room.
Are you managing the care of a friend or relative?  Do you feel overwhelmed at times or do not know where to go for resources and advice?  Join the Caregivers Support Group.  Come and go as you please!  Our one hour meetings are monthly and are intended to be informational with outside speakers and provide a support network on campus.  Please RSVP with Becky Hook (rhook@wcupa.edu) or Joyce Holste (jholste@wcupa.edu).
