Community Health

The Community Health Elective Track uses the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing entry-level competencies for health education specialists as a framework and guide in providing students with a strong scope and sequence of the skills needed for a student completing a master's degree. The learning objectives for this track are taken directly from the ten responsibilities for entry level health educators. The competencies and sub-competencies for each area of responsibility are addressed in track coursework. Learning outcomes for each course are listed in the syllabi.

This track is designed to train public health practitioners, managers, leaders, and researchers by applying the principles of the social and behavioral sciences to plan, design, implement, manage, and evaluate public health programs across regional and global community-based settings. Students also develop skills in health communication and advocacy practice to promote health equity.
