Information on Faculty Contract Negotiations

This site has been established by West Chester University to provide the latest information regarding contract negotiations between the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) and the Association of Pennsylvania College and University Faculties (APSCUF).

PASSHE has a collective bargaining agreement with seven units, the faculty union being one of them. To date, agreements have been reached with six units.

APSCUF faculty have given the union’s leadership the authorization  to strike at a later date. This does not necessarily mean there will be a strike.  Such votes have been taken during each of the last three rounds of negotiations between PASSHE and the faculty union (1999, 2003 and 2007); none has resulted in a strike actually being called.

PASSHE and West Chester University officials are hopeful a settlement will be reached soon. In the event of a labor action, the University will maintain normal operations to the fullest extent possible.

Additional information can be found on the PASSHE website and on the APSCUF website .
