On Friday, Sept. 25, Greg R. Weisenstein was inaugurated as West Chester’s 14th president. Following his investiture and swearing in by Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Chancellor John Cavanaugh and Kenneth Jarin, chair of PASSHE’s board of governors, Weisenstein received a standing ovation from the more than 1,000 members of the University community, board members, university presidents, Pennsylvania legislators and local dignitaries in Asplundh Concert Hall.
Among those who witnessed the 90-minute ceremony were family, friends and former colleagues who came from as far away as Hawaii, Norway, and North Dakota and Montana, two states where he had served as provost and dean, respectively.
He began his inaugural address noting that the ceremony was really “a celebration of the entire University,” a time to acknowledge its remarkable achievements “past and present and, above all, of the future we will build together on that foundation.”
