New "Add on" Programs

Early Grades Preparation (EGP): An Accelerated Program for Candidates adding PreK-4 Certification to an Existing Grades 4-8 Certification

The Department of Early and Middle Grades Education offers a flexible program leading to Pennsylvania Level I Certification. Certification in Pre-K through Grade 4 is granted by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This Pre-K through Grade 4 program is designed specifically for candidates who hold a middle level, Grades 4-8, teaching certificate. Upon satisfactory completion of the PreK- 4 EGP program, the candidate will qualify for a Pre-K through Grade 4 Pennsylvania Instructional I Certificate, valid for six years of teaching.  It is possible for candidates to complete the program in 6 months (January to June).

Middle Grades Preparation (MGP): An Accelerated Program for Candidates adding Grades 4-8 Certification to an Existing Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 4 Certification 

The Department of Early and Middle Grades Education offers a flexible program leading to Pennsylvania Level I Certification. Certification in Grades 4 - 8 is granted by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This Grades 4-8 program is designed specifically for candidates who hold an early grades, PreK-4, teaching certificate.  Upon satisfactory completion of the Grades 4-8 MGP program, the candidate will qualify for a Grades 4-8 Pennsylvania Instructional I Certificate, valid for six years of teaching in grades 4 through 6 and selected content areas in grades 7 and 8. It is possible for candidates to complete the program in 6 months (January to June).
