Professor Jones holds a doctorate in modern African history from the University of Delaware (1995), a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the same institution in 1976, and an M.A. in Modern European history from the same institution in 1989. Prior to joining the faculty of West Chester University in Fall 2000, Dr. Jones was an adjunct professor of history at Wesley College in Dover Delaware. He is the author of Industrial Labor in the Colonial World: The African Workers of the Chemin de Fer Dakar-Niger (Heinemann, 2002) as well as numerous articles and book chapters on the history of that region. He has also written two books about the industrial history of West Chester, Pennsylvania, called Made in West Chester (self- published 2003) and Railroads of West Chester (self- published 2006).
