Special Activities

Greater Philadelphia Philosophy Consortium
- The Greater Philadelphia Philosophy Consortium is a
cooperative effort of 12 leading colleges and universities
in the Philadelphia area. Conferences of the consortium
are regularly scheduled for the West Chester campus and
bring speakers of international repute, as well as students
and faculty from other schools in the consortium, to the
campus. All majors have the opportunity to participate in
consortium discussions, forums, contests, and other activities.

Religious Studies Speakers' Series
- Founded in 1990, this series has sponsored speakers from
principle universities such as University of Delhi, University of Tokyo, National University of Singapore, and National Taiwan
University, as well as speakers from national and regional universities.

Other Guest Speakers
- In addition to the above activities, the Department of Philosophy presents nationally known philosophers who visit the campus and speak on various issues. Visitors have included Richard Rorty, Alice Ambrose, W.V.O. Quine, Cornel West, David Chalmers, Diogenes Allen, Sydney Hook,
Peter Bertocci, Ramakrishna Puligandla, and Owen McLeod.

Philosophy Forum

A chance for our community of
students and scholars to share their ideas in a casual and enriching
environment. The first Wednesday of most months of the term, at 3:30pm.

The Philosophy Club
- The Philosophy Club, a forum for discussions, panels,
and social activities, is open to all majors, minors,
and graduate students.

Phi Sigma Tau
- Phi Sigma Tau, the international honor society in
philosophy, sponsors programs featuring noted
authorities in the field.

Middle Atlantic Region Association for Asian Studies
- Students representing WCU have presented papers at the MAR-AAS conferences at various universities in the area.

PA Interdisciplinary Association for Philosophy and Religious Studies
- Students representing WCU have presented papers at the IAPRS conferences held at the various universities of the PA State System of Higher Education.

Study Abroad
- Special degree and study abroad opportunities are occasionally available.
