The program's chief purposes are to enrich the student's knowledge and understanding of literatures and cultures outside the Western tradition and to emphasize the connections between literatures within the framework Western culture. The program's concentration on the humanities satisfies the requirements of professional, which currently expect their students to integrate disciplines and focus on the relationship between cultures.
