There are 2 routes to apply for admission to the accounting program. You can either:
- Apply directly to the accounting program. Read more about this procedure in the WCU Undergraduate Admissions web page, or
- Enter as a pre-business major.
The pre-business program gives incoming students some time to plan before committing to any of the business majors. In order to become eligible as an accounting major via the pre-business program, students are required to:
- Complete, and obtain a grade of C or better in the following courses: Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, Financial Accounting, a Mathematics requirement, Quantitative Business Analysis I, and Principles of Management.
- Obtain a minimum overall GPA of 2.5
Detailed information about the Bachelor of Science in Accounting program is contained in the WCU Undergraduate Catalog.
The accounting curriculum is sufficiently broad to facilitate a career choice in business, government, consulting and public accounting. The curriculum also has adequate depth to provide students with a solid foundation to successfully attempt the CPA examination or pursue advanced degrees in any of the business disciplines.
