Academics: Minor in Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice minor is a valuable adjunct to many other disciplines. Students majoring in psychology, sociology, social work, political science, and computer science may find the Criminal Justice minor an important part of their academic preparation.

To earn a minor in Criminal Justice students successfully complete at least 18 credits in the discipline. Five courses are required. Thus students must earn a grade of C or better in the following courses:

- CRJ110 - Introduction to Criminal Justice
- CRJ210 - Theories of Criminal Justice
- CRJ300 - Criminal Law
- CRJ387 - Criminal Justice Research
- CRJ400 - Criminal Procedure

In addition, Criminal Justice minors must take at least one criminal justice elective.

Criminal Justice minors are not required to take the twelve credit Criminal Justice Practicum (CRJ490). However, minors may enroll in the summer Practicum program and earn six credits working at a criminal justice agency. Interested students should contact the Practicum Coordinator.
