Academics: Bachelor of Science in Economics

    Rationale for Major: The mission of the Economics and Finance Department is to promote economic and financial literacy to all students who take our principles courses as a general education requirement or as part of the business core. For economics majors, we seek to develop communication skills, problem-solving skills, technological skills, and an understanding of theoretical concepts in economics. Graduates should be well-prepared for a career in business, non-profit organizations, and government or for the pursuit of graduate studies in a variety of fields.

The following are the outcomes sought by the Economics and Finance Department for economics majors:
    1. Students should understand and be able to analyze fundamental economic concepts and
    problems.
    2. Students should be adept at utilizing current technology to analyze economic problems.
    3. Students should be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
