Careers: Internships - Overview

Finance majors are allowed to use any of the Economics internship courses, ECO 411 or ECO 412 (depending on number of credits approved) as a "Business Elective" for internship purposes (See the Finance program's guidance sheet). It is essential that the internship opportunity be developmental and should enable students to relate classroom instruction with real life situations.

The number of internship credits granted depends on the number of hours of experience accrued during the internship. In addition to being used for reducing course load requirements for graduation, internships provide students with industry experience that could set them apart from other job-seekers after graduation.

Internship opportunities are usually posted on the department's bulletin board located on the 3rd floor at Anderson (South Wing). Students have found it useful to conduct their own job searches via the university's Career Development Center, personal contacts, alumni network, etc. For more information on internships, including internship credits, opportunities, approval of job site, etc, students should contact Dr. Kevin Dunleavy via email at kdunleavy@wcupa.edu, or by calling (610) 436-3422.
