The Pennsylvania Writing and Literature Project (PAWLP) is one of the oldest and largest sites of the National Writing Project a professional development network for teachers. Our model of "teachers teaching teachers" offers practical ideas for today's educators.
PAWLP offers a wide variety of three-credit and one-credit courses and in-service programs in teaching writing, teaching literature, writing/reading connections, authentic assessment, and special topics of current interest. These courses and in-service programs are offered at West Chester University and in sponsoring school districts and Intermediate Units throughout the Delaware Valley area.
Most of PAWLP's three-credit courses and the invitational summer Institutes apply to the Master's Degree in Writing, Teaching and Criticism offered by West Chester University.
For information on how to bring a course or in-service workshop to your school or district, please call Director Andrea Fishman or Associate Director Mary Buckelew at 610-436-2202. |

Experienced teachers can become Project teacher-consultants by participating in one of our invitational Summer Institutes. Teacher-consultants are Fellows of the National Writing Project and eligible to coordinate graduate and in-service programs and teach in our summer Youth Programs. |
PAWLP's summer Youth Programs blend educational enrichment and fun for students in grades 1-12. Students experience the processes and stages of writing, including publication of student-selected work in an anthology. All instructors are experienced classroom teachers who are Fellows of the National Writing Project.
