Transfer Admissions Requirements and Procedures

A student that has been enrolled in any post secondary institution after graduating from high school or has attended West Chester University on a non degree basis, must apply for admission as a transfer student. If a student's secondary school credentials do not meet Freshman entrance requirements, they must complete, or be in the process of completing, the equivalent of one full academic year of college course work in order to be eligible for transfer consideration.

To be considered for transfer admission, students must submit the following:

  • A completed "Application for Admission"
  • Personal Statement
  • Official transcript from each post-secondary institution attended
  • $35.00 application fee
  • High School Transcript and SAT's (if you have fewer than 30 completed credits)
  • WCU operates on a rolling admission policy.  Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

An application will not be reviewed until it has been completed.  It is the student's responsibility to have all the above items forwarded to the Office of Admissions.  Once an application is complete, a final decision will be communicated in writing.

Priority is given to transfer applicants with the strongest academic credentials, normally those with the highest cumulative grade point averages and greatest number of earned credits.  A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 is required for consideration but is not a guarantee for admission.  Certain majors have more selective requirements and enrollment limitations.  Students with cumulative grade point averages between 2.00 - 2.49 may be deferred until later in the review cycle
