Your I-20
You have applied to West Chester University and received a formal acceptance letter and admission package. What do you do next?
Your next step is to receive an I-20 and make an appointment with an American Embassy in your country to apply for a United States visa. In order for the International Office to issue you the I-20, the International Office must receive the following forms and verify the following documentation:
Health Insurance Form
Housing Needs Form
Financial Support Form – Select the form that applies to you
Graduate student currently in the United States
Graduate student not in the United States
Undergraduate student not in the United States
Undergraduate Student currently in the United States
Bank Statements that support the financial support form
Remember: The International Office does not make admission decisions and we are separate from the Undergraduate Admissions Office and the Graduate Admissions Office. If you submitted bank statements with your university application, you must let us know so we can request that information from the Undergraduate or Graduate Office.
Once we have received the above forms and documentation, we will issue your I-20. All I-20s are mailed by Foreign Air Mail. We do no express mail any I-20s. You should receive your I-20 within 7-10 days from the date it is mailed. If you have a trusted contact in the United States who is willing to express mail your I-20, you will need to contact the International Office via e-mail and give your permission for this person to receive your I-20 and mail it to you.
At the time we issue your I-20, we will send you an e-mail alerting you that your I-20 has been issued. In that e-mail we will also send you your SEVIS number. That number will allow you to pay your SEVIS FEE and make your visa appointment at the American Embassy.
