SOMPAC
• Linoleum floors in hallways and classrooms.
Linoleum is a resilient
floor or wall covering made of burlap, canvas, or felt, surfaced
with a composition of wood flour, oxidized linseed oil, gums
or other ingredients, and coloring matter.
• Carpeted Areas - Prince Street. Manufacturer is a certified GRI Green
Label Plus company and has SCS Environmentally Preferred Product certification.
Their adhesive products contain 0% VOC’s and carpet tiles are manufactured
with recycled materials in the backing.
• No or Low VOC Interior Paint
• Light paint colors that have a higher light reflectance values allowing
the use of lower voltage lighting in rooms
• Faculty office furniture was manufactured by a company whose manufacturing
facilities in 2006 were more than 90% free of hazardous air pollutants (HAP)
and VOC's than their 1995 baseline.
• FSC- certified wood

Sykes Carpet Standard
• All the new carpet in the building contains 39% post-industrial recycled materials. The carpet is manufactured using a solution dye method which has a reduced impact on indoor air quality
F.H.G. Library Carpet Standard
• All the new carpet in the building contains 40%-53% post-industrial
recycled materials. The carpet is manufactured using a solution dye method
which has a reduced impact on indoor air quality
Residence Halls:
Ramsey Hall -J&J Carpet
• Contain up to 25% recycled content and the product is 100% recyclable
at the end of its life cycle.
McCarthy Hall - Milliken Carpet
• This company is a carbon negative manufacturer and operates with
zero waste to landfill. The carpet backing has at least 35% recycled content
and is fully recyclable at the end of its life cycle.
Tyson Hall - Prince Street Carpet
• Manufacturer is a certified GRI Green Label Plus company and has
SCS Environmentally Preferred Product certification. Their adhesive products
contain 0% VOC’s and carpet tiles are manufactured with recycled materials
in the backing.
Schmidt Hall - Milliken Carpet
• This company is a carbon negative manufacturer and operates with
zero waste to landfill. The carpet backing has at least 35% recycled content
and is fully recyclable at the end of its life cycle.
Killinger Hall - Shaw Industries
• Carpet manufacturer has a “cradle to cradle” approach to
the way they make things. Raw materials used to make a product. After it's
served its useful life, that product gets broken down into raw materials again
and used to make the very same kind of products. So raw materials make carpet,
which gets broken down into raw material, which gets used to make carpet.
Lawrence Dining Hall Addition
• The flooring in the open two story space is Linoleum.(see
description above)
• The chairs in the Einstein Bagels seating area are manufactured within
500 miles from our campus reducing transportation fuel requirements and emissions.
• 70% of the furniture in the Residence Life Offices was manufactured
within 500 miles from our campus reducing transportation fuel requirements
and emissions.
25 University Avenue
• Carpets in faculty office and conference rooms have at least 35%
recycled materials. The company is a carbon negative manufacturer and operates
with zero waste to landfill. The carpet backing has at least 35% recycled content
and is fully recyclable at the end of its life cycle.
• No or Low VOC Interior Paint
• 90% of the fabrics used in this building (on seating, acoustical
panels and panel systems) are made from recycled materials using environmentally
responsible manufacturing processes.
• The classroom chairs (non tablet arm) are 100% recyclable. It is
made of a steel tube frame, elastomer belt, and injection-molded polypropylene
seat and back, and is designed for quick and easy disassembly. Molded into
the bottom of each chair is a phone number that owners may call when their
chair reaches the end of its life.

• Maplex – a board product made from wood production waste
