Scholarships are usually applied for during November-April of the year preceding the academic year for which the funds are utilized
. But there are some scholarships that may be applied for throughout the calendar year.
There are four basic sources for finding scholarships:
- The high school guidance office for incoming freshmen.
- Internet websites.
- West Chester University website or listings in the Financial Aid Office.
- Your local library.
Deadline dates are usually firm; make sure applications are filed well before the deadlines and are complete. Organizations who award scholarships usually notify students of their awards; copies of scholarship award letters, other than those awarded by the University, should be submitted to the Financial Aid Office.
