Scholarships are usually applied for during November-April of the year preceding the academic year for which the funds are utilized . But there are some scholarships that may be applied for throughout the calendar year.

There are four basic sources for finding scholarships:

1. The high school guidance office for incoming freshmen.
2. Internet websites.
3. West Chester University website or listings in the Financial Aid Office.
4. Your local library.

Deadline dates are usually firm; make sure applications are filed well before the deadlines and are complete. Organizations who award scholarships usually notify students of their awards; copies of scholarship award letters, other than those awarded by the University, should be submitted to the Financial Aid Office.
