December 2013/Early January 2014
The following information is provided to help students and their families prepare for the closing of the North Campus residence halls for the semester break. Students who live in the South Campus and College Arms apartments are permitted to remain in their apartments over the break period if they are continuing as students for the spring 2013 semester.
All residence halls will close on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at noon for undergraduate students and on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 5 p.m. for graduating seniors. Students must sign out within 24 hours after their last examination, unless it occurs on December 14, or if they are graduating.
Students must complete a list of items to prepare their room for the break. Resident Assistants hold floor meetings to communicate this information with students. Information about the closing schedule for campus dining facilities is also shared with students at this time. In addition, the information is sent to each student’s WCU e-mail account and is on our Website – see link under our announcements area of our home page.
Mail is not forwarded during the holiday vacation. Family and friends are encouraged to send mail to students’ home addresses after December 1.
Students who are not returning to the residence halls for the spring 2014 semester must schedule and complete a check-out with their Resident Assistant and return their room key before leaving campus. Failure to do so can result in a charge for a lock change. If students are planning to commute or move off-campus while they attend WCU in the spring, they must request a release from their student occupancy agreements. More information about this process is available under the Housing Information-> Forms and Applications section of our website.
All residence halls reopen for the spring 2014 semester on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 9 a.m. Meal plans will start with brunch on this date.
Any questions regarding this information should be directed to the Office of Residence Life and Housing Services at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-436-3306. Questions regarding Allegheny Hall, Brandywine Hall, University Hall The Village or East Village can be directed to the University Student Housing staff at email@example.com or 610-430-4988.
Students are sent housing information via e-mail when they are admitted as resident students and have paid their deposit. If students complete their housing application by Monday, January 6, 2014, they will be sent their spring 2014 housing assignment information via e-mail (to their WCU account) on January 13. Applications received after January 6 will be processed as soon as possible, but the assignment information may be delayed slightly.
