Student Awards / Scholarships

Two students holding an award

The Office of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs encourages faculty, staff, students, and community partners to recognize WCU students who demonstrate a strong commitment to public service by nominating those individuals or groups for their achievements. The department is pleased to announce some exciting changes to the awards for public service! Nominations for the new awards will begin Spring semester of 2015. Please note, the following awards will be replacing the Outstanding Volunteer of the Month and Outstanding Project of the Month awards.

WCU Outstanding Public Service Award

Award: Recipients receive a certificate and a $500 scholarship through the West Chester University Foundation.  The scholarship is awarded each semester, totaling two scholarships per academic year.

Who Can Nominate: Faculty, staff, students, and community partners may nominate an individual(s). Self-nominations are not accepted. Parents of WCU students and other relatives are discouraged from nominating family members.

Criteria: Qualifying recipients are currently enrolled West Chester University students who exhibit an ongoing commitment to community service.  Recipients should demonstrate a  strong desire to serve their communities and regularly participate in community service opportunities.

How to Submit Nominations: Complete the application on OrgSync. All submissions for the fall semester are due by November 20, 2015.

Community Service Leadership Award

Award: Recipients, a group or individuals, will be recognized at the Leadership Awards Banquet at the end of the school year.
