A Program of the 20th Annual Celebration of MLK Jr. at WCU Thursday, January 31 from 3:00 - 5:00pm in Sykes Ballrooms (First week of school)
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said,
“Life's most persistent and urgent question is:
‘What are you doing for others?’ ”
In 1994 Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service; a
"day on, not a day off." In the spirit of community empowerment and social justice each year the Office
of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs brings faculty, staff, and students together to participate in a service
project right here at West Chester University. Together the campus community will be making fleece blankets for kids
at Nemours A. I. DuPont Children’s Hospital and Chester County Hospital’s NICU and Pediatrics Departments. The OSLVP
student staff and student leaders from around campus will teach volunteers to make children’s blankets. Blanket making is
very easy and no prior experience is necessary. The WCU campus community is aiming to make 100 blankets, so the more
volunteers the better! Everyone is welcome!
