Chapter 354 Requirements for those seeking Pennsylvania
Department of Education (PDE) Educational Specialist Certification
as an Elementary School Counselor or Secondary School Counselor.
Grade Point Average Requirements:
Chapter 354 regulations require candidates to M.Ed. programs or "certification
only" candidates to have either an overall GPA of 3.0 or a GPA
of 3.0 in the last 48 credits of academic work completed.
Requirements for those who HOLD a valid Pennsylvania Department
of Education School Certification (e.g. Teacher Certification).

| Must have earned 6 credits of college level mathematics -
[Ordinarily the courses have a Mathematics prefix. Courses
with a STAT prefix fulfill the requirement only when these
courses are part of the mathematics department and fulfill
the general education mathematics requirement for a degree.
STAT courses offered in social (SOC, PSY, BUS, POS) or natural
sciences do not fulfill the requirement. Research methods courses
do not meet the requirement. Mathematics teaching methods courses
do not meet the requirement. Mathematics faculty must teach
courses to fulfill the requirement.]
Must have earned 3 credits of college level English composition
and 3 credits of college level English literature.

NOTE: Students must apply for Degree Candidacy after the completion
of 15 credit hours but before 25 credit hours. Degree Candidacy
approval is required to continue in a a degree program.
