Memorial Scholarship

1. Background/Description of Scholarship:

Cheryl Hamel obtained her elementary school

counseling certification from West Chester

University. She distinguished herself as a creative,

compassionate and conscientious school

counselor. Her death from cancer just a few years ago left a

hole in the hearts of those who

loved her, worked with her, and benefited from her gracious

gifts as a counselor.

The Cheryl Hamel School Counseling Memorial

Scholarship has been established in her

honor and memory to support young professionals pursuing a

career in School Counseling.

2. Criteria: Undergrad____ Grad __x_

• Full or part-time student pursuing a Master's in Counseling;

• Completed at least 9 credits toward degree;

• GPA of 3.5 or higher;

• Current transcript required;

2 letters of recommendation required:

• One faculty recommendation required;

• Optional recommendation from field-based supervising counselor;

• Statement indicating demonstrated commitment to education and school counseling.

4. Award Amount for 2008-2009: 2 for $1,000 each
