What is it?
The "TLT" program is designed for professional candidates
who want to attain advanced competency in the use of educational technology.
The program is offered to eligible candidates who want to develop the
skills and proficiencies necessary to design and sustain appropriate
enriched learning environments that meet the needs of all students. An
important attribute of this program is the flexibility offered to working
professionals through alternative delivery. Components of this course
are offered on location at K-12 schools, and via the Internet.
An Educational Technology Certificate is awarded to candidates who successfully
complete required courses. Three courses must come from the following
core (EDT 500, EDT 501 & EDT 502). In addition, EDT 503 or an approved
elective is chosen, under advisement, as a fourth course. All courses
are graduate level courses.
The focus of this program is to appropriately design enriched environments
-- using sound curricular ideas that:
- Are linked to NETS-T (National Educational
Technology Standards for Teachers)*, and curriculum frameworks
- Are grounded in research-based pedagogical practice to
meet the needs of all students
- Are tied to authentic assessment
- Promote active learning by teaching and learning with
technology, rather than about technology.
