After the BellAfter the Bell is a volunteer after-school program for students in the Kennett Middle School. Its mission is to provide fun and a learning experience in a safe environment for students who wish to attend. Activities included in After the Bell are based upon the interests/skills of the volunteers who facilitate all classes. In a typical week students have a choice of 60-70 events they can register and attend. Barn at Springbrook FarmThe Barn at Spring Brook Farm provides animal-assisted activities for children with disabilities. Their mission is to enrich the lives of children with disabilities by providing animal-assisted activities for the purpose of promoting knowledge, confidence, self-esteem and physical well-being. Volunteer training is provided. Tour guides will perform guided tours of the historic site, including two restored houses that were used as headquarters during a Revolutionary War battle. Volunteer times are very flexible and based on the volunteer’s availability. However, volunteers are needed to provide guided tours from mid afternoons until closing. Box 202, Chadds Ford, PA 19317 Bridge Academy and Community Center (BACC)The BACC has programs in each of these three areas—education, creative arts and compassion projects—that have primarily worked with low-income youth and adults. The homework tutorial has been one of the most successful programs, with about 70 children involved. It meets three nights a week and is staffed by volunteers. Calvary Fellowship Church is local church that works with over 500 children on Sundays and Wednesdays.
