Community Service Activity: Adult Care of Chester County has volunteer opportunities for the position listed below.

• Arts and Crafts Volunteer: Help plan and assist with individual arts and crafts type activities.
• Baking Volunteer: Someone to help or lead a baking group.
• Games Volunteer: Play individual games such as checkers or dominos with the participants or could help in the group activities.
• General Activity Volunteer: Assist staff with any or all aspects of providing activities for the participants.
• Fine Arts Volunteer: Someone to share their musical, dance, or artistic talents with the participants.
• Horticulture Volunteer: Help maintain a small garden; planting and weeding. Plus, indoor plants and craft projects.
• Sensory Time Volunteer: Enjoying one-on-one time with the participants such as reading, talking, listening, and sensory activities.

After the Bell

After the Bell is a volunteer after-school program for students in the Kennett Middle School. Its mission is to provide fun and a learning experience in a safe environment for students who wish to attend. Activities included in After the Bell are based upon the interests/skills of the volunteers who facilitate all classes. In a typical week students have a choice of 60-70 events they can register and attend. Class size is kept small, generally 5-10 students

Community Service Activity: Volunteers will work with small groups of students (grades 1-4) to reinforce fundamentals of reading and math. Reading: Monday and Wednesday 3:30pm-5:15pm; Math: Tuesday and Thursday 3:30pm-5:15pm. Training sessions will be provided.

Barn at Springbrook Farm

The Barn at Spring Brook Farm provides animal-assisted activities for children with disabilities. Their mission is to enrich the lives of children with disabilities by providing animal-assisted activities for the purpose of promoting knowledge, confidence, self-esteem and physical well-being. Volunteer training is provided.

Brandywine Battlefield

Community Service Activities:  Volunteers will be tour guides and interpreters.  Tour guides will perform guided tours of the historic site, including two restored houses that were used as headquarters during a Revolutionary War battle.  Volunteer times are very flexible and based on the volunteer’s availability.  However, volunteers are needed to provide guided tours from mid afternoons until closing.

Bridge Academy and Community Center (BACC)

The BACC has programs in each of these three areas—education, creative arts and compassion projects—that have primarily worked with low-income youth and adults. The homework tutorial has been one of the most successful programs, with about 70 children involved. It meets three nights a week and is staffed by volunteers.

Calvary Fellowship Church

Calvary Fellowship Church is local church that works with over 500 children on Sundays and Wednesdays.  There are many wonderful opportunities to work with children of all ages from newborn through 5th Grade in various capacities.

•  Aides to work with our many special needs children who attend our Sunday morning programs at 9:00 a.m. or 10:45 a.m.
• Volunteers to work with newborns through 5th Grade children in small groups of 8 to 10 children during Sunday morning programs.

• Volunteers to work with our newborns through Preschool Age children on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. while their mommies attend Bible Study.

Community Service Activity: Camp Dreamcatcher provides therapeutic service to children infected/affected by HIV/AIDS. During the week of camp the participants will enjoy hiking, swimming, go-carts, mini golf, yoga, and massage. Training is required and is provided.

Community Service Activity: Volunteer opportunities for students to work with young adults with special needs in a variety of capacities.
