Boys & Girls Club of LancasterThe Core Programs and Services offered by The Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster provide an environment where our members can reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Girls on the RunGirls on the Run® is a life-changing, experiential learning programs for girls age eight to thirteen years old. The programs combine training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development. The Girls on the Run objective is to reduce the potential display of at-risk activities among its participants. The goal is fewer adolescent pregnancies and eating disorders, less depression and suicide attempts, as well as fewer substance/alcohol abuse problems and confrontations with the juvenile justice system. Mom's House of LancasterMom's House offers single parents the chance to have their babies and continue their education. A licensed day-care center, Mom's House® gives free, child care to infants and toddlers so parents can return to school. Location: 415 South Queen St., P.O. Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center of Lancaster CountyAs a nationally recognized pediatric facility, Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center provides family-centered education and therapy programs for infants, children and adolescents with disabilities and developmental delays. There are also volunteer opportunities for the summer, such as assisting with Camp Schreiber, Camp Kaleidoscope, Golf Mini-Camp, and Annual Softball Weekend. Interested individuals should complete the volunteer application that can be found online. Some volunteer positions require individuals to produce current (within one year of date) background clearances. Special OlympicsFounded in 1983, Special Olympics of Lancaster County is a year-round sports training and competition program for individuals from ages 6 and up with intellectual disabilities. Lancaster County offers 15 different Olympic-type sports at no cost to the athletes or their families. Location: P.O. National Watch and Clock MuseumNational Watch and Clock Museum is recognized as the largest and most comprehensive horological collection in North America. President James Buchanan's WheatlandThe historic home of President James Buchanan serves more than 1,000 school children annually. Location: 230 N. Railroad Museum of PennsylvaniaThe Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania houses one of the most significant collections of historic railroad artifacts in the world. Location: 300 Gap Rd. The Cab Simulator gives Museum visitors a first-hand view of engineering a locomotive.
