Options for Satisfying BASIC SKILLS Requirement

PAPA (Pearson’s Pre-Service Academic Performance Assessment)

 

Register for the PAPA

All Undergraduate or counselor education candidates seeking initial certification who have not taken or registered for their basic skills tests prior to April 2, 2012 must choose between the PAPA, the Core Academic Skills for Educators Tests, or examine existing ACT/ SAT score reports for qualifying scores.

  • ACT/ SAT cannot be repeated once matriculated
  • You must wait 30 days before re-taking a Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • No limit to the number of times a test can be taken

Composite Score = 686

All areas must meet the minimum (see below), and the sum of the three scores must meet or exceed 686. Candidates must achieve the PAPA Qualifying Score (220) in at least 1(one) area and also reach the Minimum Composite Score Total.

Registration: CORE can be taken as a combined test (5751), or as individual sections (see CORE test numbers below)

Composite Score = 475

All areas must meet the minimum (see below), and the sum of the three scores must meet or exceed 475. Candidates must achieve the CORE Qualifying Score in at least 1(one) area and also reach the Minimum Composite Score Total.

ACT Test

 

The composite score of 23 on the American College Test Plus Writing (ACT) shall be accompanied by a combined English/Writing score of 22 and a Math score of 21.

SAT Test

 

A score of no less than 1550 on the Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT)
The SAT score of 1550 will include no individual section (Critical Reading, Writing, and Mathematics) score of less than 500.
Highest scores can be from different test administrations.
