James P. Argires, B.S. '56

  • Physician, neurosurgeon, WCU distinguished alumni
  • Practiced medicine in Lancaster for past 37 years and has been president of neurolosurgical practice invoving as many as 14 physicians and 85 employees
  • Served in U.S. Marine Corps in Korean War at age 19; three major combat engagements
  • After Korea earned B.S. degree in health and physical education at West Chester University
  • Chief neurosurgeon, Lancaster General Hospital, 1976-94
  • Medical degree from University of Alabama Medical School
  • Named Pennsylvania Division Surgeon of the Year from American Trauma Society in 1991
  • Serves on board of trustees, Millersville University and Fulton Financial Corporation, Hellenic College Holy Cross Seminary, Boston, Mass.

George McGinness, B.S. '36

  • Teacher, coach, Department Chair, Professor Emeritus, Franklin and Marshall College
  • Member, West Chester University Glenn Killinger Football Hall of Fame
  • Member, Franklin and Marshall College Sports Hall of Fame
  • Member, Franklin and Marshall College Football Hall of Fame as a coach
  • Franklin and Marshall new swimming pool dedicated as "McGinness Pool"
  • Aided in organization and printing of U.S. Naval Manual on gymnastics now used in training Navy pilots
  • Head Clinician, sports program, 7th Army Headquarters, 1976
  • Owned McGinness Aviation Service in Columbia, PA and built airfield
  • Holds commercial pilots license
  • Active in community as borough councilman for 36 years; school board member for 4 years

Marty Stern, B.S. '59

  • Teacher, coach, and athletic director
  • Head track and field coach emeritus, Villanova University
  • Won eight varsity letters at West Chester University in track, wrestling, and cross country
  • Villanova University Hall of Fame
  • Coached 145 All-Americans, 12 NCAA record holders, 7 Olympians, and 4 world record holders
  • Brought five NCAA Team Championships to Villanova
  • U.A. Air Force Special Services; Air-Force 400 meter track champion, 1961
  • Member of Upper Darby High School Wall of Fame, Central Bucks High School Hall of Fame, Delaware County Hall of Fame, and Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame
