Anthropology & Sociology
West Chester University
The Department of Anthropology and Sociology has a local chapter of "Alpha Kappa Delta" (http://www.alphakappadelta.org/), the International Sociology Honor Society.
Alpha Kappa Delta "is dedicated to encouraging and stimulating scholarship while promoting the scientific study and advancement of sociology." Membership is limited to undergraduate and graduate students in Sociology who have maintained a record of high academic achievement. It is an earned honor. Once you join, you become a lifetime member. Your membership may be used on your resume and applications for graduate school! (Keep that in mind!)
On West Chester University's campus, AKD is a newly re-established chapter as of 2011 and has been persistent in making strides to grow over the future academic years. As for the upcoming 2013-2014 academic year, we have many events planned in correlation with the Sociology Club, our best friends within the Department of Anthropology and Sociology. These events range from trip to Sociological Conferences in Pennsylvania and Maryland, trips to the museums of Philadelphia, and other sociological panel talks across Southern Pennsylvania.
