A different kind of summer program with an innovative approach where the city will be your primary classroom. Barcelona is full of linguistic, cultural and aesthetic messages to be encountered, read, decoded and... enjoyed! An unforgettable learning experience on the Mediterranean, organized and led by West Chester University faculty. The program is a collaboration between West Chester University and IAU College offering 6 credits, home stays, excursions and presentations by guest experts in art, culture and politics.

Travel and Education (T&E) Programs
(For all levels of Spanish: Summer-4wks, Semester, Year-Long, Internships,Spanish for Healthcare Professionals)
Travel and Education (T&E) is a consortium of Spanish academic institutions with Spanish governmental backing which has established a local presence in the US for the purpose of facilitating enrollment of US college and university students in the prestigious academic institutions of the historical regions of Castilla y León, deemed by UNESCO as World Heritage sites. T&E's mission is to afford US students the opportunity of living the quintessential history of Spain and of experiencing Spain as a major international contender in the global economy. Through its exclusive US presence, T&E is able to offer local students unique study abroad opportunities at very affordable prices. Also, T&E takes pride in its ability to offer to local US universities a full service package including the personalized attention that is the mark of Spanish tradition.Patrizia D'Adamo, US Director of T&E comes to campus to meet with students.

SEVILLE (SPAIN)
Hosted at the International University Studies (IUS)
This study abroad option is available through International Universities Studies in Seville, Spain (I.U.S.); it is designed to enrich the foreign language experience by providing high-quality academic, cultural and personal opportunities. The program offers a varied spectrum of academic courses ranging from beginning to advanced undergraduate and graduate levels, taught in Spanish by Spanish instructors. Students may register for the fall or spring semester, as well as for a full academic year. Three-week intensive courses are offered in the summer and winter. Students may also take courses at the University of Seville. Those with strong language skills will be placed in classes for American students; those with superior language skills will attend regular classes with native Spanish students.
I.U.S. will provide support services to assist students with travel, health, financial and personal needs. It will also arrange lodging with local Spanish families who have experience hosting American students.
- One semester, two semesters, and 3 and 6 week summer programs.
- Courses taught in Spanish (though it is also possible to study other languages) in the following content areas: language, literature, culture, history, and sociology (3 credits each) or dance (1 credit).
- Stay with Spanish host family.
- Field trips and some weekend tours included.
- June program application deadline: April.

Winter Intersession 2014

Winter Intersession Tour of France, Spain, Morocco and Gibraltar to explore “Spain’s connection to the Islamic World.” Dr. Maria Van Liew and University of California vice-Provost of International Programming, Dr. Carl Jubran, joined their expertise of Spain and Morocco to guide a group of nine students through twelve cities to highlight the historical relationship between Catholic, Islamic, and Jewish cultures.
Each January, WCU in collaboration with IAU College sponsors a Traveling Seminar (3 credits), a 19-day academic and cultural tour of 12 key cities in France, Morocco, Spain and Gibraltar, a British territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula at the entrance of the Mediterranean. The academic component consists of a series of briefings from leading European academic, literary and political personalities and experts on the European relationship with the Islamic world. Participants will attend daily lectures and meetings with distinguished scholars in addition to local guides and experts in the field of politics, history and culture.
Sites Visited: France (Paris, Aix-en-Provence and Marseille); Morocco (Marrakesh, Casablanca and Rabat); Gibraltar; Spain (Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Toledo and Madrid)
Courses/Credit: The Traveling Seminar can be treated as a stand-alone program (3 credits). Credit can be earned in one of six courses:
Art History 395: Classical Islam and the European Renaissance;
Cross Cultural Studies 395: Jews, Muslims and Christians in Europe and the Islamic World;
French 395: Cultural History of France and the Islamic World;
History 395: Cultural History of Europe and the Islamic World;
Political Science 395: European Politics and the Islamic World;
