Dr. Karin Gedge
Associate Professor of History, Social Studies Coordinator
Dr. Gedge grew up in Milwaukee, WI, but has lived in Boston, MA, Rochester, NY, Fairfield, CT, Cleveland, OH, and Baltimore, MD before making West Chester her home. She attended Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, for her B.A. in History and Education, SUNY College at Brockport for her M.A. in History, and Yale University for her Ph.D. in American Studies. Her husband, two sons, and three granddaughters live in the area now.
Dr. Gedge regularly teaches the first half of the U.S. survey, HIS 400 Women in America, and the Secondary Social Studies Methods course (SSC 331). She also teaches HIS 474 Religion in America, HIS 455 U.S. Intellectual History, and HIS 553 Rise of the New Nation.
Dr. Gedge has done research in Women, Religion, Cultural History, Material Culture (quilts), and Religion and Education.
