William L. Hewitt
Professor

Brief Biography:

Professor William L. Hewitt received his  Ph.D. from the University of Wyoming. 

His publications include Defining the Horrific:Readings on Genocide and Holocaust in the Twentieth Century. (Edited) Across the Wide River. [Historical Novel For Young Adults]. 

Book Chapters include  “Surviving Trauma,” in Adam Jones, ed. Evoking Genocide: Scholars and Activists Describe the Works that Shaped Their Lives “Dances with the Other: Genocide and Redemption in the Modern Western,” in Jonathan Friedman , ed. Representations of the ‘Other’ in Film and Theater; and, “Reel Genocide for Avoiding Real-Time Genocide,” in Film and Genocide Anthology, edited by Thomas Crowder and Kristi M. Wilson [Forthcoming]. 

Book-length Manuscripts Nearing Completion are:  “Red Power in the White Media” and, “Modern Misery: The Literature and Film of Genocide in the Twentieth Century”. 

Dr. Hewitt has written four educational videos and published over two dozen articles articles with  “Tears of the Sun: Igbo? Civil War? Genocide? Whatever, it is Africa,” [Forthcoming] in Mbari: The International Journal of Igbo Studies.

Professor Hewitt is the 2009 recipient of the Bayard Rustin Compassion and Courage Award
