Requirements for Psi Chi Membership

Undergraduate Students

  1. Cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better
  2. Minimum of 18 credit hours in Psychology with PSY GPA of 3.5 or better. These 18 credit hours must include the following courses:
    1. PSY 100 Intro Psych*
    2. PSY 245 Statistics*
    3. PSY 246 Research Methods
    4. A minimum of 3 PSY courses taken at WCU including at least one course from Group 1 and at least one course from Group 2. (See Psych Major Advising Sheet for a list of Group 1 and Group 2 courses).

* or Department-approved equivalent

Graduate Students

  1. Must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours
  2. Cumulative GPA of all graduate coursework must be 3.50 or above
  3. A minimum of 15 credit hours of graduate Psychology courses with GPA of 3.75 or above
  4. The minimum 15 credit hours must include the following five courses in the student's curriculum:

      • PSY524 Psychometrics
      • PSY540 Multicultural Psychology
      • PSY559 Psychotherapy
    2. Industrial/Organizational curriculum

      • PSY524 Psychometrics
      • PSY563 Performance Analysis
    3. General curriculum
      • PSY502 Advanced Statistics
