Thank you for your interest in attending the MSW Program at West Chester University. Admission to the program as a matriculated student is based on meeting the academic qualifications required of all graduate students at WCU, plus an evaluation of the applicant’s potential for the profession of social work.
The MSW Program has priority application deadlines for the following fall semester. We will process applications in the order they are received. Students who apply early can be admitted early.
WCU uses an online application system in which applicants to upload all components of their application, except for transcripts. Transcripts must be sent to the Office of Graduate Studies and Extended Education.
The address for the Office of Graduate Studies and Extended Education is:
102 West Rosedale Avenue
West Chester, PA 19383
The non-refundable application fee is $50.
If you have any questions about WCU or the application process, we’re here to help. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with Sage Windemaker for assistance.
Verification of English language proficiency is required. Applicants whose native language is not English must submit evidence of satisfactory performance on the Test of English as a Foreign Language to the Office of Graduate Studies and Extended Education before application forms can be processed. A score of 550 is required for the written exam, 80 for the Internet-based score, and at least 213 for the computer-based test.
Prospective international students must also submit a transcript evaluated by World Education Services or an institution that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. The transcript evaluations should be a course-by-course evaluation.

Students seeking to transfer to the MSW program from another CSWE accredited social work program are required to meet the criteria for admission and follow the application procedures. Additionally, one of the academic references must be from the program director in the program from which the applicant is transferring and must address the academic standing in that program. A minimum grade of B is required for transfer credit. Transfer credits are subject to review and approval by the MSW Program Director.
Applications are accepted on a rolling admission basis with the following priority deadlines:
MSW Program in Philadelphia: Classes beginning Spring 2014
West Chester campus: Classes beginning summer 2014
West Chester campus: Classes beginning Fall 2014
It is important to note the above priority deadlines for applications. We will continue to process applications after these due dates, but early applicants have a greater chance of admission. You are encouraged to apply early and have all required documents (including recommendations and transcripts from all schools attended) submitted as early as possible.
Students will be notified about admissions decisions via email. Please be sure to check the email address that you submitted with the application.
