     Tony Rotondo, author of Scratch Where it Itches, Confessions of a Public School Teacher, says "Let's not waste time and effort arguing if we should or should not teach grammar.  Of course we should, but not the way most of us do it"

     Tony brings his slant . . . and his humor . . .to the subject.

You "Gotta" BE the Reader and Writer

featuring Jeff Wilhelm

Dr. Jeffrey Wilhelm is an internationally-known teacher, author, and presenter. A classroom teacher for fifteen years, Wilhelm is currently Professor of English Education at Boise State University. He is the founding director of the Maine Writing Project and the Boise State Writing Project.

He has authored or co-authored 16 texts about literacy teaching. He has won the two top research awards in English Education: the NCTE Promising Research Award for “You Gotta BE the Book” (TC Press) and the Russell Award for Distinguished Research for “Reading Don’t Fix No Chevys”. He has edited a series of 100 books for reluctant readers entitled The Ten.

Unlocking the Writers and Readers in your Classroom

featuring Ralph Fletcher

Ralph Fletcher is a nationally known educational consultant and speaker. He is the author of What A Writer Needs, Walking Trees: Teaching Teachers in the New York City Schools, and Breathing In, Breathing Out: Keeping a Writer's Notebook. He has worked with teachers and children across the United States, in Europe, and in the Middle East. He spent three years as a senior member of the Teachers College Writing Project in New York City involved with staff development.

Ralph's talks are humorous, anecdotal, and practical. His work with teachers has its roots in his classroom experience as well as his own writing. He has the utmost respect for the difficult, important job teachers have in helping students find their voices for the writing that will shape their lives.
