Transfer admittance is open to any student who has attended a post-secondary institution after high school or enrolled with WCU on a non-degree basis. If you attended WCU as a degree student for at least one semester but did not register for classes for three or more consecutive semesters, apply as a readmit applicant.
The Office of Admissions at West Chester University completes a preliminary evaluation of all transfer applications on a rolling basis once all information has been received and processed. The committee prioritizes applicants with the strongest academic credentials and notifies them of a decision upon completion. Other candidates may be required to submit additional information or will be referred to the committee for a second review.
It is recommended that transfer applicants for the fall semester complete the application process early in the preceding spring semester, preferably no later than June 1st. Spring semester applicants should be completed no later than November 15th. Please keep in mind that certain academic programs can close earlier and if enrollment limits are met before this time, admissions will be closed. WCU does not have a minimum credit requirement to apply as a transfer student.
*The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at West Chester University is not in a position to evaluate qualifications undertaken by students outside of the United States. Therefore, please arrange for a course-by-course credential evaluation of your previous studies be completed by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member. Here is full list of NACES-approved evaluation companies. Each company has its own requirements and guidelines, so once you select a company to use, you will need to follow their instructions.

A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 is required for consideration, but is not a guarantee for admission. Certain majors have more selective requirements and enrollment limitations, see below. Students with cumulative grade point averages between 2.00 - 2.49 may be deferred until later in the review cycle. If a student previously completed at least one semester of course work at West Chester University as a degree seeking candidate, but separated from the University for three or more consecutive semesters and wish to re-enroll, they must apply as a Readmit Student.
Yes, there are special admission requirements for those applying to one of the following Education programs: Early Grades Preparation PK-4 BSED, Early Grades Preparation PK-4/Special Education PK-8 BSED, or Middle Grades Preparation 4-8 BSED. Applicants must have 27 completed college level credits to be considered for admission. Applicants with 48 or more completed credits when starting at WCU are required to have passing scores on the PA required Basic Skills Test: PRAXIS I (taken before April 1, 2012), PAPA or CORE. Students may use SAT or ACT scores in place of the Basic Skills Tests.
See the College of Education Website for information about required SAT or ACT scores. All applicants to Education programs must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above to be eligible for consideration.
The PASSHE Academic Passport Policy states that any community college students with an AA/AS degree in a transfer or college parallel program from an accredited public Pennsylvania community college, or any student attending another System (SSHE) university with at least 12 credit hours of college level work with a 2.0 GPA or higher, can be admitted to WCU if they apply within the established WCU time frame. Admission to a specific curriculum at WCU will be determined by WCU, based upon the same criteria required for all other transfer students.

You will need to contact your appropriate academic department and arrange an advising appointment. Included with your acceptance materials will be contact numbers for each academic department. You are encouraged to schedule your advising appointment prior to the end of the semester preceding your start term.
A Marine Corps veteran, Tyler transferred into WCU after serving in the Gulf. He had a unique perspective given his service to the country, and the lack of services he found upon his return. Tyler wanted to make a difference in the lives of other veterans, and to help them transition back into civilian life. Along the way, he also helped the University by creating a cultural awareness training for faculty and staff to help them understand the veteran experience. He's been presenting around campus ever since! Today, Tyler is also a Mental Health Therapist with Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems where he is making a difference every day.
