WCU currently enrolls students from 38 different states and 55 different countries. 11% of the student body is from out of state.
The student body is comprised of 62% female, 38% male, and 14% students of color.
Students are encouraged to apply during the first semester of their senior year. It is recommended that freshmen apply by December 1st.
We prefer that students apply electronically and request the Guidance Office to mail their transcripts at the same time as the electronic submission to help ensure timely processing.
WCU prides itself on reviewing each application individually and evaluating every aspect of a student's record. We take into consideration the high school program and level of difficulty, grading and ranking polcies of the high school , specific courses based on major selection, and SAT or ACT scores, and personal essay.
Personal interviews and letters of recommendation are not required.
When reviewing applications, WCU institutes a modified rolling admissions policy whereby students with the strongest academic credentials are notified on an ongoing basis. Marginal applicants will be referred to an admissions committee and decisions may be deffered until later in the cycle.
There are over 750 computers available for "general usage." There are over 40 computer labs on campus for students to use. 80% of the students living in the resident halls brought their own computers to campus.
The Center for International Programs is responsible for coordinating study abroad programs, international faculty exchanges and international programs for the campus and broader community. Students have thousands of programs from which to choose. The most popular trips are London and Austraila.
