President: Alex Paez

Alex PaezA 2012 WCU alumnus, Alex obtained his B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy. While an undergraduate at WCU, Alex was highly involved in different organizations such as the Latino American Student Organization, Student Government Association and Greek Life. Through his involvement, Alex was able to hold various different leadership positions that offered him a chance to learn many of the best kept secrets of WCU. Alex enjoys soccer, baseball, discussing politics and learning new things. As GSA President it is his goal to grow the organization as much as possible and ensure the graduate student population's needs are met. He is entering his second year in the Master of Public Administration Program and will be moving onto law school once he has finished. His ultimate goal is to become a lawyer, practice law and enter the world of politics to serve his community and ensure that all people are treated equal and enjoy the same rights and privileges.

Vice President: Danielle Gilliam

Danielle GilliamOriginally from Norristown, PA, Danielle attended West Chester University in 2011 for her undergraduate career where she received her B.A. in Communication Studies with a Psychology minor. Shortly after graduation, she dedicated a great deal of time to the youth of Philadelphia by taking on a year of service and volunteering for City Year. Her year was spent as the College and Career Readiness Coordinator at Frankford High School in Northeast Philadelphia. She worked as a teacher’s assistant, ran after school programs and planned various social and educational events with her team. Danielle is currently working as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Graduate Studies while pursuing her Master’ Degree in Elementary and Secondary Education Counseling. She is also a photographer who enjoys capturing moments and meeting new people in the process. In her free time, Danielle enjoys shopping, spending time with loved ones, movies, food, and watching House Hunters. Danielle is excited for the upcoming year.

Treasurer: Zach Schagrin

Zachary SchagrinA Levittown native, Zachary graduated from West Chester in May, earning a degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy and a minor in Geology. This fall, he will eagerly begin his studies towards a Masters in Geosciences. As an undergraduate at West Chester, Zachary was an active member of many student organizations, including Student Government Association and Chess Club, as well as conducted research on regional geology through the Department of Geology and Astronomy. However, he most enjoyed exploring the nooks and crannies of campus and delving into the history of WCU. He is looking forward to contributing towards the continued growth of GSA as treasurer and hopes that he will be able to help other graduate students learn about the immense benefits offered by GSA. In his free time, Zachary enjoys watching and playing sports, following politics, rock hunting, visiting museums and other historic sites, and watching Seinfeld.

Secretary: Kathryn LeConey

Kathryn LeConeyA lifelong resident of Delaware County, PA, Kathryn is an alumni of West Chester University where she earned her BSED in English and Secondary Education. During her time as an Undergraduate student at WCU, she served as Schmidt hall Counsel President for two years, spent two summers as an RA for both the regular Summer Session as well as for the Academic Development Program and was a brother of the Omicron Upsilon chapter of Alpha Phi Omega. After Graduation, Kathryn worked as a substitute teacher in a number of Delaware County school districts and as a tutor preparing students to take the SAT and ACT college entrance exams. After a few years of teaching, she decided to return to her alma mater where she is currently studying Higher Education Counseling/Student Affairs in the Counselor Education Department and hopes to eventually work in Student Activities/Student Life/Student Involvement. When not at WCU, she can be found at her job working in an after-school program for children in grades 4-6. She currently lives in Media, PA with her Husband, also a WCU alum, and dog Frodo and can usually be found trying a new recipe, watching questionable amounts of British television or browsing all things Pinterest.

Programs Coordinator: Karen Wislocky

Karen WislockyA 2004 WCU alumna, Karen earned her B.S.Eds. in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, and taught in New Jersey public schools for 4 years. From 2010-2012 she lived and taught in Paris, France. Upon her return to the US, she came back to West Chester to pursue her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Counseling and Student Affairs. In addition to GSA, Karen is an LGBTQ Ally, sits on the WCU Judicial Hearing Board, tutors English as a second language, participates as the only student member of the Assessment Advisory Committee, and has just completed a serving a year as a Graduate Assistant in the Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Center. In Fall 2013, she will begin a Graduate Assistantship with the Office of Off-Campus and Commuter Life. In her free time, Karen enjoys traveling, cooking, baking, singing, and photography. Karen is proud to serve her fellow WCU graduate students in her post on the GSA Executive board.
