Central Staff BIOS

Dr. Thomas J. Purce,
Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs


In his role as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, Tom is responsible for overseeing the Offices of Residence Life, Housing Services, WCU Dining Services, Greek Life and Student Organizations, Recreation and Leisure Services, in addition to New Student Programs and Orientation. Tom has been in Student Affairs for his entire professional career. Since his arrival at WCU in January 1987, he has served as the Director of Residence, Director of Residence Life and Housing Services, plus as interim Assistant Dean of Students for a two-year period. Tom has chaired and participated in a wide array of campus committees over the years, but his primary satisfaction comes from working with students at this University. One way which he has maintained close student contact and cultivated long-term friendships is by serving as advisor to the Residence Hall Association since he began working here.
Prior to his arrival at WCU, Tom worked as an admissions counselor at Alfred University (NY), a resident director at Alfred State College (NY), a housing manager at Lassen Community College (CA), and director of residence life at Adelphi University (NY). He received a BA in History and a MS in Counseling in Higher Education both at Alfred University before obtaining his Ed. D. in Higher Education Administration from Widener University. Tom resides in the Borough of West Chester with his wife Mame and daughter Lindsay, who graduated from the University of Delaware. When away for WCU Tom likes to travel, garden, exercise and spend time with friends and family.

Mr. Peter C. Galloway,
Director of Housing Services


Peter is currently the Director of Housing Services at West Chester, overseeing all operational aspects of University owned housing . Since starting at WCU in 1988, he has also been the Assistant Director of Housing and Associate Director of Housing Operations.
Prior to working at WCU, Peter was an Area Coordinator and Business Manager in the Office of Housing and Residential Life at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, and a Graduate Hall Director at SUNY Potsdam in Potsdam, NY. He received a BA from SUNY Potsdam and an MBA from Clarkson University, both in Potsdam, NY. When not involved in activities on campus, he enjoys music and reading, and volunteers with the local Big Brothers Big Sisters agency.

Mrs. Marion McKinney,
Director of Residence Life


In her role as the Director of Residence Life, Marion oversees all aspects, supervision, training and development, staff selection, and all developmental programming that takes place within our traditional residence halls on North Campus, our South Campus apartment complex, as well as our affiliated housing. Marion is currently the Faculty/Staff Advisor for Miss West Chester University. Marion is also a nationally certified Rape Aggression Defense Systems Instructor. Marion has a passion for serving students and having a profound impact on their lives everyday.
Prior to working at WCU, Marion was a property manager at the University of New Hampshire, she also served as a Resident Director at Old Dominion University as well as the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. She received her BS in Criminal Justice and her MS in Higher Education Counseling from West Chester University. When not involved in activities on campus, she enjoys gardening, cooking and spending time with her husband and daughter and son as well at entertaining close friends at her home.

Mrs. Susan Visoskas
Assistant Director of Housing Services

Sue is the Assistant Director of Housing, overseeing all aspects of students' housing assignments, occupancy management, and marketing. Sue has served in this role since June 2006.  Sue enjoys the challenges of implementing new technology while keeping processes people-friendly.   Her professional interests outside of housing assignments include staff selection and advising student groups.
Prior to working at WCU, Sue was the Supervisor of the Learning Resource Centers at the Chester County Campuses of Delaware County Community College. She also served as a member of the Residence Life staff at the University of Delaware for 14 years, as both a student and professional staff member.  Sue received her BA and Master of Public Administration degrees from the University of Delaware. When not involved in activities on campus, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, singing in the Chester County Choral Society, reading, travel, cooking, and Phillies baseball.

Mr. Kent Guerin,
Coordinator of Technology Services


Kent has served as Coordinator of Technology Services since 2000. His main responsibility is as support for networking services, desktop applications and web development for Residence Life and Housing Services and the resident communities. He also handles any issues between WCU's telecommunications department / Comcast cable services, and the resident student body. He enjoys having the ability to help make the student experience a positive one.
After attending the University of Maryland and Widener University, Kent spent the next 10 years of his life on the road as a live event Production Manager for both Corporate and Entertainment clients. After settling down and getting married, he was a Video Production/Satellite Transmission Engineer for Suburban Cable's advertising services before coming to West Chester U.
Kent now lives in West Chester with his 12-year old daughter, Samantha. His interests are classic jazz and old movies, and he is also a rabid Eagles fan.

Mrs. Stephanie Paulachok,
Secretary, Residence Life and Housing Services


Stephanie Paulachok has been employed by West Chester University and Residence Life and Housing Services since June, 2003. She earned a B.S. in Business Education from Shippensburg University and taught high school students before having children. Once her children were in school, Stephanie worked part-time for 11 years at the Boy Scouts of America before taking the full-time position with Residence Life. She really enjoys meeting the WCU students and helping them and their parents adjust to college life away from home.
Stephanie is married and has a son who recently graduated from the University of Delaware and a married daughter who graduated from WCU in May 2004. She enjoys spending time with her family (especially her new grandson), crafts and interior decorating.

Mrs. Claire Masi,
Secretary, Residence Life and Housing Services


Claire Masi has been employed by West Chester and Residence Life and Housing Services since January, 2007. Before coming to West Chester, she spent thirteen years working in retailing, and thoroughly enjoys the change of pace and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere she has found here at WCU. Claire enjoys working with students and helping them adjust to life on campus.
Claire is married and has two daughters, both of whom have a passion for theater. Some of her favorite things are proudly watching her daughters' pursuits both on stage and behind the scenes, gardening, cross-stitch, crochet, and last but not least, chocolate.
