Each traditional residence hall has a computer room equipped with personal computers. These rooms are linked with the Resident Network. This allows students to have access to their University Email accounts and the Internet. Check with the staff at the main desk for the times when the computer lab is operational. All problems with the lab PC's and printers are to be reported to your front desk.
After experiencing many years of decreased usage and increased costs, the University discontinued telephone service to individual student residence hall rooms and apartments in the Fall of 2006. However, we continue to provide phone service in public areas of our residence halls for use in emergencies and to make on-campus calls. If students are in need of phone service while living on campus separate from a personal cell phone, there are web based services available. Please contact the Office of Residence Life and Housing Services and we can provide additional information.
Each residence hall room and the living rooms and bedrooms in the apartments have outlets/basic cable boxes which connect to the University's television distribution system. A basic and standard cable television line-up (including HiDef) is provided to all rooms, as per the University's contract with Comcast Communications. No direct billing to students is necessary, as CATV charges are included in student fees. Students requiring assistance with a Comcast problem shouldcontact the Residence Life Tech Office
or at 610-436-2344 or University Student Housing at 610-692-7391 (depending on where student lives). Be prepared to leave full name, complete campus address (including suite/apartment number and room), contact telephone number, serial number of cable box in question and a brief description of problem noted.
Students interested in obtaining other services from Comcast, including any Premium channels, DVR, or Cable Modem services, must contract directly with - and be billed monthly by - Comcast Communications. Before making a decision on add-on packages to your room, please check out our new IPTV service at xfinityoncampus.com. Any additional services for students will be billed individually by Comcast, but since basic tier of service is on the WCU account, the Residence Life Technology Office can assist you with the information necessary to open a "stacked" account through Comcast Bulk Client Services.

*Xfinity IPTV Streaming Services available only within the WCUPA wireless network (RamNet). This service is only available to Traditional Housing Residents (Goshen, Tyson, Killinger, Schmidt, South Campus Apartments and College Arm
WCU Traditional Housing has upgraded our in-room cable service. All rooms/suites/apartments now have new HD cable boxes permanently mounted. Each STB (Set top box) has both an HDMI Hi-Def output, and a standard definition RF connection (screw-on cable). Students should bring their own cord (either RF or HDMI) as WCU has a limited supply of short cords, and students are more likely to place their TV further from the outlet than these cords will reach, as room design is a matter of personal choice. Once your TV is connected to the STB, please follow instructions for remote set up below.
TV must be connected first-either RF (screw on connectors) or HDMI.
TV set to Channel 4 if RF (may need to program TV-new ones don't recognize channels until programmed)
TV set to proper HDMI input if using HDMI cable.
Aim remote toward cable box attached on wall, and hold SETUP button. Red light will
go on. When red light turns GREEN, release setup button.
Press large XFINITY button (black with RED XFINITY). A 3 digit code should appear on TV screen. Enter those 3 digits on the remote. That should be it.
From then on, remote will not need to be aimed at the Set Top Box connected on the wall, as it is paired with radio frequency to the set top box.
Remote may also be programmed to operate your TV (see TV codes on manual) by holding set up button until ALL POWER button changes from RED to GREEN. Then enter your TV code. Try turning TV off. You may need to try more than one code until the one for your TV is found. This will give you POWER, VOLUME and INPUT control of your TV.
