First-Year Orientation 2009

All incoming
First-Year Students are required
to attend WCU's two-part Orientation Program. |

Part 1: The Late Orientation session will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009. All First-Year students who did not already attend Orientation Part 1 in June/July must attend the Late Orientation session. Check-in will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the lobby of Sykes Student Union. You will have your ID picture taken at this time and you will be given a meal pass to eat your lunch in the Lawrence Center Dining Hall. The Late Orientation session will begin promptly at 1 p.m. in Sykes Student Union and the program will conclude at 4 p.m. Free parking is available in Parking Lot K, behind Sykes Student Union.
Part 2:
Is a three-day Orientation Program that takes place in August
prior to the beginning of classes; Friday, August 28th - Sunday, August 30th. Participation in Part 2 is required for all First-Year Students.
On-campus students: Check-in for Orientation Part 2 in your residence hall when you move-in. You will receive the schedule for Orientation Part 2 at move-in.
Commuter students: Check-in for Orientation Part 2 in the lobby of Sykes Student Union. Commuter Survival Day will begin between 4:45p.m. - 5 p.m.
The first Orientation Part 2 program for all First-Year students is the President's Welcome picnic from 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.
The Orientation Day - Part 2
For Orientation Part 2, all First-Year students are required to attend Orientation Part 2, being held Friday, August 28th - Sunday, August 30th. First-Year students who will be living on-campus will move into their residence halls on Friday, August 28th. You will receive specific information from the Office of Residence Life and Housing Services (www.wcupa.edu/_SERVICES/stu.lif) in the beginning of August regarding residence hall check-in times and procedures. Students who will be commuting to campus should also check-in to Orientation on Friday, August 28th. There is not a parent portion for Orientation Part 2. Fall semester classes will begin on Monday, August 31st.
What to expect from Orientation Part 2: You will attend a series of programs and activities designed especially for first-year students. Commuter students will attend a special Commuter Survival Day program.
