Awards

West Chester University of Pennsylvania is dedicated to community service, service-learning, and community engagement. In the 2011-2012 academic school year students performed 344,603 hours of service and raised over $100,000 for charity. Because of the University’s commitment to service they have been recipients of the following two awards:

  

President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll

"The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, launched in 2006, annually highlights the role colleges and universities play in solving community problems and placing more students on a lifelong path of civic engagement by recognizing institutions that achieve meaningful, measureable outcomes in the communities they serve."

 

 

The Carnegie Foundation Community

Engagement Classification for

Curricular Engagement and Outreach and Partnerships

West Chester University is part of 3% of colleges and universities nationwide that have received this award. The award honors our institutional focus on community engagement and exemplary exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity with local communities. WCU received the award in 2010.
