Dr. Jane Hagness, lyric soprano, earned a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Kentucky in 1997 and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University in 2007. In addition to teaching voice lessons at West Chester University, Hagness is the Director of Music at St. John’s (Hain’s) United Church of Christ in Wernersville, PA where she serves as organist, directs four choirs, and oversees a concert series. Hagness has served on the voice faculties of Lehigh University, DeSales University, and Shenandoah Conservatory. Hagness has been an active recitalist in the United States and Spain, specializing in twentieth and twenty-first century music. She presented poster paper sessions at the National Association of Teachers of Singing National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee in 2008 and at the International Congress of Voice Teachers in Paris, France in 2009. Hagness is the author of a two-part article in the September/October 2011 and November/December 2011 issues of the Journal of Singing of theNational Association of Teacher’s of Singing entitled, “Twentieth-Century Works for Soprano and Marimba: An Analytic Exploration”.
