WCU Piano Professor Receives MTNA Award

Igor Resnianski  

Dr. Igor Resnianski, an assistant professor of piano has been named the 2012 Teacher of the Year by the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association.

Dr. Resnianski a a member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and PMTA (Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association) organizations. For the past 3 years his pre-college and college students have won the state PMTA Piano Competitions in the Junior, Senior, and Collegiate divisions. He regularly attends the MTNA National Convention representing WCU in the exhibition hall.

WCU Piano Student Places 3rd in International Competition

Pianist Anna Kislitsyna, WCU international graduate student from Russia recently won Third Prize at the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Los Angeles, California.

Currently studying with Dr. Resnianski, Anna received her Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in Novosibirsk Russia where she studied with Professors Larisa Smeshko and Mary Lebenzon. She is a prize winner of numerous competitions including the 2nd Prize of "Latar Shevchenko" International Piano Competition in Russia, 1st prize winner in an International Chamber Ensembles Competition in Finland and 2nd prize winner on an International Piano Competition in Yaroslavle, Russia. In 2011 she was awarded a scholarship of the president of the Russian Federation. Before coming to the US to work on her MM in Piano Performance degree, Anna concertized throughout Russia and Europe, performing as a soloist, in chamber ensembles and with symphony orchestras.
