Operation Safe-Walk

Operation Safe-Walk is a program where officers from DPS will escort the requestor to and from campus locations. This Safe-Walk program cannot be provided to or from off campus locations. This service is free of charge.

Valuable Item Registration

Operation Identification is a program designed to discourage burglary and theft of valuables from your Residence Halls and other locations on campus and provides a way for you to easily identify stolen property. The Operation ID program allows law enforcement to detect, identify, and return stolen or lost property to its rightful owner.  To register your valuable items with the Department of Public Safety.

Emergency Phone System

Emergency phones are located in all university parking facilities and on the inside and outside of many academic and residential building. The locations of the phone are noted on the campus map in the RAMS EYE VIEW, Simply press the call button and the phone will automatically dial to the DPS Communications Center. The phone are for more than emergency use. They can be used to report lights out, to request a service or to obtain information from DPS as well as to report an emergency.

Crime Tip Line

Anyone who wishes to report a crime but remain anonymous may do so by calling the Crime Tip Line at 610-436-3100. This will connect you with a voice mail system where you can leave the information for DPS without identifiying yourself.

Emergency Medical Services

Medical emergencies on campus are handled by an on campus medical team (QRS) made of of students and staff who are certified by the PA Board of Health as First Responders or Emergency Medical Technicians. They are supplemented by a local ambulance service and a Paramedic Squad based at the Chester County Hospital. The QRS can be dispatched for medical problems on campus by calling the DPS Communications Center at 610-436-3311.

Assist Motorist - Keys Locked

A lock out service is provided to motorists, who have locked their keys in their vehicle. Due to the numerous makes of locks used by automobile manufacturers, it is sometimes impossible to enter a locked vehicle without the proper key. DPS will make every possible attempt to unlock your vehicle. Should you need the services of a locksmith or other arrangements, DPS will assist you. The University lock out service is free of charge, however it is the motorists responsibility to pay for charges incurred when non-university services are rendered.

Assist Motorist - Jump Start

The Jump Start program is a service provided to motorist that find that their battery has died while at the University. DPS will have a vehicle, upon request, jump start your vehicle. Should your vehicle's problem be unrelated to a dead battery, DPS will contact an automobile service center for you. The Jump Start program is a free service, however it is the motorists responsibility to pay for automobile service center charges.

Building Admits

All buildings on the campus are secured after the completion of scheduled classes. Employees and students, who need access to the facilities to complete their work or studies, must request admission to the building at the Public Safety Office. Students requesting admittance into the buildings after normal class hours are required to have a building admit pass. This pass is issued by the facility administrator and can be requested by the student's instructor.

Fingerprinting

Students of the University seeking their degree in teaching are required to complete a criminal background check prior to accepting employment or entering into their internship. One portion of this background check is the submission of finger prints to the Pennsylvania State Police. DPS is available to finger print applicants and assist in the completion of these cards. In most cases the cards can be completed on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
