Threat Assessment

Information about the University's Threat Assessment Team

Emergency Management is the judicious planning, assignment and coordination of all available resources into an integrated program of prevention, preparation, response and recovery for emergencies of any kind, whether from man-made sources, natural sources or terrorism.

Under the direction of the Vice President for Administration and Finance, the Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) is responsible for responding to campus emergencies. CERT involves a wide cross-section of University Faculty and Staff who work together to integrate the various areas of campus emergency response expertise that are available into a single effective plan for the preparation, response and recovery of the campus in case of an emergency or disaster.

The following University offices are involved in CERT:

Office of the President
Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance
Department of Public Safety (DPS)
Office of Information Services
Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)
Department of Human Resources
Office of University Health and Psychological Services
Department of Facilities Management
Office of Residence Life and Housing Services
Department of Networking and Telecommunications
Members of the faculty specializing in Environmental Health

West Chester University also works very closely with local municipal emergency management and is supported by the Chester County Emergency Management Agency. When an incident occurs that exceeds the University's ability to provide sufficient response resources, local municipal and County emergency management assistance will support the University's efforts through mutual aid.
