Planned Giving

Planned giving is the process of making a gift which maximizes the donors needs and objectives, and uses current tax laws to increase the benefit to both the donor and West Chester University.

Planned gifts at the WCU Foundation include the following:
  • Outright gifts, where the University often has use of the asset immediately, such as securities, tangible personal property and some real estate gifts.

  • Life Income gifts, where the donor makes a gift today, receives a stream of payments for life, and upon the donor's death, the Foundation receives the remainder of the gift.

  • Bequests, where the donor uses the asset during his/her lifetime and the Foundation receives the asset at the donor's death.

  • Beneficiary designations through bank accounts, life insurance, and retirement plus.

The WCU Foundation has a complete planned giving program that offers Income Producing Gifts including trusts and charitable gift annuities. Other Gifts, such as real estate, pensions, qualified plans and life insurance, are also possible.

ATTENTION: Are you 70.5 years old? If so, the Pension Protection Act of 2006
allows you to give us (and/or other public charities) up to a total of $100,000 as an
outright gift directly from your IRA. This gift does not have to be included in your
income and does count toward your mandatory withdrawal. This option is only available until 12-31-07. If you wish further clarification please contact Norma T. Clayton.
